Chalco, China Shipping, Panda, Vanke: China Equity Preview

The CSI 300 Index, which tracks yuan-denominated A shares listed on China's two exchanges, fell 56.91, or 2.6 percent, to 2,126.52.

Aluminum producers: China's top 20 aluminum smelters, the largest in the world, have cut production by more than 350,000 metric tons on an annual basis as part of a July agreement to reduce energy consumption and boost prices, China's Nonferrous Metals Industry Association said. The reduction is equivalent to about 2.8 percent of the nation's production of the metal last year, according to Bloomberg's calculations.

Aluminum Corp. of China Ltd. (601600 CH), the nation's biggest maker of the lightweight metal also called Chalco, slid 0.62 yuan, or 6.7 percent, to 8.68. Yunnan Aluminium Co. (000807 CH), China's fifth-largest producer of the light metal, slumped 0.57 yuan, or 9.8 percent, to 5.23.

Shipping Lines: The Baltic Dry Index fell for a 14th session to the lowest since June 2007 on weaker Chinese demand for iron ore. The Baltic Dry Index of transport costs on international trade routes shed 3 percent to 5,492. It has lost 53 percent since rising to a record on May 20.

China Shipping Development Co. (600026 CH), the nation's biggest oil carrier, lost 0.35 yuan, or 2.8 percent, to 12.30. Cosco Shipping Co. (600428 CH), a unit of China's biggest shipping company, fell 0.37 yuan, or 1.9 percent, to 18.78.

China Vanke Co. (000002 CH): The nation's biggest listed property developer said apartment sales declined 35 percent to 4.07 billion yuan ($595 million) in August, its third monthly decline from a year earlier. The shares fell 0.36 yuan, or 5.7 percent, to 6.

Nanjing Panda Electronics Co. (600775 CH): The Chinese partner of phone-equipment maker Ericsson AB said 65.5 million non-tradable shares will be listed on Sept. 12. The stock added 0.07 yuan, or 1.3 percent, to 5.57.
