Platinum-plated copper rod is a composite metal material consisting of a copper core coated with a thin layer of platinum. This combination leverages the high electrical and thermal conductivity of copper while utilizing the superior corrosion resistance, chemical stability, and catalytic properties of platinum.

This material is distinct from solid platinum rods, which are significantly more expensive and denser, and from pure copper rods, which lack the necessary corrosion resistance for specific industrial applications.
