Nickel Chromium (Ni–Cr) alloy powders such as NiCr50 (Ni balance, Cr 50 wt%) and NiCr20 (Ni balance, Cr 20 wt%) combine excellent high temperature oxidation resistance and mechanical toughness. When applied as a thermal spray coating, Ni–Cr layers remain stable up to 980 °C, protecting steel and low alloy components in aggressive environments. They also serve as a bond coat for carbide overlays and, in fine powder form, suit heat exchanger and nonstick coating formulations for the electric vehicle industry.
