These properties will be improved along with increasing of iridium concentration. Alloys with an iridium content exceeding 10% exhibit an age-hardening effect, which will be increased with the increasing of iridium concentration, but the precipitation rate is low.
Platinum-iridium alloys have high deformation resistance and work-hardening rates, but their workability deteriorates with increasing iridium content. The alloys exhibit well-developed intragranular segregation and dendrites, requiring high-temperature hot working before cold working.
